This morning Goole Times’ senior reporter Emily Collins was exclusively invited to join officers from Humberside Police and East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Trading Standards team while they carried out a large operation to take counterfeit cigarettes off the streets of Goole.
The two teams were joined by a private dog unit to carry out warrants on six shops on Pasture Road and Boothferry Road.
The multi-agency operation saw hundreds of counterfeit cigarettes seized from the premises and taken off the streets of Goole, helping to clamp down on the sale of dangerous fake products, which in some cases also fund organised crime, such as human trafficking and terrorism.
For all the inside details on the large scale operation, keep an eye out on our website and in next week’s paper.
